Katharine practices primarily in the areas of Mental Health Law, Drivers License issues, Family Law and Criminal Law. Katharine was born and raised in Lake Mills, Iowa. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Northern Iowa in 1985. Katharine clerked in the Iowa Senate and was District Representative for U.S. Senator Tom Harkin from 1986-1989. She received her Juris Doctorate from Drake University in 1991 and was a District Court Law Clerk for the First Judicial District of Iowa from 1991-92. She was then the Law Clerk for the late Justice James Carter of the Iowa Supreme Court from 1992-93. Katharine served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Des Moines for 20 years.
